Pre-Sales: Where Tech and Passion Go Hand in Hand

Our Sales team just doubled its strength - it was one person, now it's two. Nemanja, our new Business Development Manager, is a rare combination of knowledge and experience in both technology and business development, so he will focus on tech pre-sales. We had a couple of questions for him…

You're the one who needs to fully understand both business and technical levels of a product or a service. How is that even possible?

Understanding both the business and technical aspects of a product is challenging but achievable with the right background and experience. I hold a degree in Software Engineering, which provides a strong technical foundation. Over the last three years, I've also been involved in software development pre-sales, where I combined skill sets I built over time- sales and my technical background. 

Additionally, my decade-long career in sales, where I've sold everything from hardware to software, has given me a deep understanding of business dynamics and client needs. This unique combination of technical and sales experience enables me to bridge the gap between our technical teams and our clients, ensuring our solutions meet both technical specifications and business objectives. I continually refine these skills through practical application and ongoing learning.

Nemanja plays basketball and loves cycling, grows tomatoes and raises honey bees. Some would explain it as an early onset of a midlife crisis, but I knew instantly these were signs of a person that's just brilliant in sales.

In your experience as a pre-sales consultant - and you have lots of experience there - what do the clients really like to see in service and product presentations?

In my experience as a pre-sales consultant, client preferences can vary significantly, but there are common themes that universally resonate during service and product presentations. Firstly, clients deeply appreciate when we demonstrate a genuine passion and understanding for their product. This involves showing that we recognize the effort they have invested and that we are committed to handling their business with the utmost care and attention.

Secondly, clients are looking for undeniable expertise. They need to feel confident that our team is not only capable of executing their vision but will do so in the best way possible. This is where our depth of knowledge and a track record of successful projects play a critical role. We build trust by sharing case studies and testimonials from similar projects, illustrating our proficiency and results-driven approach.

Lastly, when it comes to team augmentation, cultural fit is crucial. Clients want to ensure that our team can seamlessly integrate with theirs, sharing similar values and work ethics. We address this by discussing our team’s culture in-depth and exploring their team dynamics through preliminary meetings or workshops. This ensures that we are not only a technical fit but also a cultural enhancer to their existing teams.

 

As the new guy in HOOLOOVOO's growing Sales team (with the third member on the way), please share your impressions on the ambitions of HLV? 

As one of the initial members of HOOLOOVOO's expanding Sales team, I am genuinely excited about the direction and the potential for growth we have. Despite being a small team, I believe our size is a significant advantage at this stage. It allows us to be agile and responsive, which is crucial in a dynamic market environment.

Working closely with Djordje has been a fantastic opportunity for synergy. Our diverse skills and perspectives complement each other, creating a well-rounded team. This yin and yang dynamic not only enhances our working relationship but also drives us towards more innovative solutions and strategies.

I am fully aware that there will be challenges and learning curves along the way. However, I am confident that these experiences will be valuable, helping us refine our approaches and strategies. I am committed to contributing positively and look forward to what we can achieve together as our team grows. This journey, though just beginning, promises to be both rewarding and successful.
